Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

Treeno ("we", "us") is a note-taking app: a web app, a desktop app, an iOS app, and a Telegram bot / Mini App, all sharing the same account and server. This policy covers all of them and describes what data we collect, why, and how to remove it.

Local mode needs no account

Treeno works fully offline without signing in. In local mode your notes live only in a database on your device and are never sent to our servers. Nothing below applies until you create an account.

Data we collect

Account data

When you sign in with Apple, Google, or Telegram, we store a provider-issued identifier (so we can recognize you on the next sign-in), your display name, and your profile photo (copied once from the provider and re-hosted on our own server).

We do not store the email address Apple or Google shares during sign-in — we read it once, only to suggest a display name, and discard it.

Signing in does not give Treeno access to your contacts, calendar, or anything else in that account — only the identifier, name, and photo above.

Your content

Anything you put into Treeno — notes, tags, fields, kanban boards, images, voice notes, file attachments, comments — is stored on our server under your account, so it can sync across your devices.

Voice notes

When you record a voice note for transcription, the audio is sent to OpenAI's speech-to-text API to produce the text. We do not keep the audio file on our main server after transcription — we keep only metadata about the request (file size, duration, language, the model used).

If you send a voice message to the Telegram bot, the audio is additionally cached on the bot's own server for up to 7 days (or until the cache holds more than 500 files, whichever comes first), then deleted automatically.

Search and "Similar notes"

To power full-text search and the "Similar notes" feature, the text of your notes may be sent to OpenAI to build a search index. That text is used only to build the index.

The Telegram bot's AI agent

If you turn on the Telegram bot's AI agent mode, your messages and the note content the agent reads or writes are processed by a third-party language model (Anthropic Claude or OpenAI, depending on configuration) to carry out your request. The conversation is stored as part of your account so the bot keeps context between messages.

Pro subscription

If you buy Treeno Pro in the iOS app, Apple processes the payment; we never see your card or Apple ID details. Apple sends us a signed record of the subscription (its ID, product, dates, renewal and refund status, and the App Store environment), which we store with your account to turn Pro on everywhere you sign in. If you pay through Telegram (Tribute), we receive your Telegram user ID and the subscription's dates and status in the same way.

Support requests

If you send us a bug report or question from the app, we collect what you write, your device model and OS version, the app version, and up to 15 minutes of the app's local diagnostic log (which can include error messages), plus any screenshots you choose to attach. If you add a contact email to that form, we store it to reply to you — this is the only way an email address reaches our servers.

Analytics on web, desktop, and the Telegram Mini App

The web app, desktop app, and Telegram Mini App send anonymized usage events (for example "note created", app version, locale, theme) to Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager, so we can see which features get used. These events never include your note content, tag or field names, file names, or search text. They do include your internal account ID, an identifier used only inside Treeno for this purpose.

The iOS app does not use any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDK. Nothing about how you use the iOS app is sent anywhere except to our own servers, to make the product work.

Why we use your data

  • To run the service: sync your notes across devices, power search, answer support requests.
  • To fix problems you report.
  • To understand feature usage — on web, desktop, and the Telegram Mini App only, in aggregate, never at the level of what you wrote.

We do not sell your data, run ads, or share data with data brokers. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Who else processes your data

  • OpenAI — voice transcription and search embeddings (the text of your notes, and voice audio, for transcription only).
  • Anthropic and/or OpenAI — the Telegram bot's AI agent, only if you use agent mode.
  • Apple, Google, Telegram — to authenticate you, if you choose that sign-in method.
  • Apple (App Store), Tribute — to take payment for Treeno Pro, if you subscribe.
  • Google (Analytics) — anonymized usage events, from the web app, desktop app, and Telegram Mini App only.

Where your data is stored

We run our own servers.

How long we keep your data

  • Account and content: for as long as your account exists.
  • Voice audio: not stored after transcription on our main server; cached up to 7 days on the Telegram bot.
  • Support attachments (logs, screenshots): kept as long as needed to resolve your request.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual databases from the app's account settings at any time (the server always keeps at least one database per account). To delete your entire account — your profile, all databases, notes, images, and files — open the mobile app and go to Account → Delete account. This is a permanent, hard delete: once it runs the data cannot be recovered. If you cannot use the app, contact us at https://t.me/fiobond and we will delete the account by hand.

Children

Treeno is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We will update the effective date above when this policy changes and, for material changes, tell you inside the app.
